One morning I received a telegram reading about as follows;"Are you willing to risk $150 on an old friend". It was signed Dorothy. I had saved about this amount for a little honeymoon and to get started in housekeeping, and thinking that she wanted to go to California or somewhere to get away from the unpleasantness that must exist at home, I wired her $150. Three days later I received a wire from Chicago signed by Dorothy telling me that she would arrive in Washington the next morning.
