John Griffin to Mother / Los Angeles, CA
I just got in from a trip to Arizona, and don't have to go to work for a few minutes so will take the time to drop you a line and let you know that we are all still alive.
We enjoyed your visit very much and regret that you could not have stayed longer. The Rose Parade was really beautiful, and next year if we are here you should plan to come down for New Years instead of Christmas for you can only stay for one or the other. We took some colored movies of the parade and are honing that they will come out OK' If they do we will send them on for you to see.
Life down here goes on much the same Donny has registered in school at the University of Southern California, and will be gone to school two nights a week; He has to go clear across town to get over there and it is quite a job, but his work is still further over the other way than our place so I suppose he will stay along with us.
Tenn came in on New Years night. We were at a show and the baby tender did not want to let him in, and I cant blame her: He finally talked her into it and stayed with us only the one night. He was over last Sunday and was quite enthused over his work: He will earn more than he expected and he is on the midnight shift so does not have to work but 6 hours instead of 8.
Thanks very much for the fruit, jam and jelly that you sent. As you no doubt noticed, when you were here we could surely use something like that. We are trying to go easy on it so that it will last a long time. Gordon left his sleeping bag. I will send it back if he needs it. If not we might wait until we are coming that way again.
It has rained here quite a bit since you left, but that is about what we can expect as this is the rainy season. We will probably have wet weather now for another month: Over in Arizona the weather is like summer, and they are planting their spring flowers and vegetables: It is quite dry and dusty though and I don't care much for the climate.
We again wish to thank you for all the lovely Christmas presents, they are all very much appreciated: I haven't been home since returning from Arizona, so do not know whether there is any mail from If not, don't forget to write as we always enjoy hearing from you.
John
