John Griffin to Mother / Washington D.C.

Dear Mother,

It seems like with Christmas approaching I'm finding a hard time to get a moment to drop you a line. However, I do want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and send a long these pictures we took of Bob the other day. However, I do want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and send along these pictures we took of Bob the other day.

Right now he is just raising the very devil. The night I sent off your package he heard the rattle of paper, and we let him up to see what was going on. He had a great time; helped me put on all the stickers and got in my way when I tried to tie it up. When it was all wrapped he [ ] all over it and jumped on it and really had a circus. Ever since then he seems to feel that something is going on after he goes to bed and raises the very dickens to get up to see what it is.

We have Christmas all pretty well planned. I am going to take the day off tomorrow and get the tree and set it up, etc. It seems like right at the last minute we are always so rushed to get things done so I had a lot of leave coming and have been working quite hard so decided to take the day off.

We got a letter from Ben the other day enclosing some pictures of the daughter. I'd send them along with this but I'm going to send it air mail and I don't want to make it overweight.

We took another roll of pictures tonight and have a role of colored movie film for Xmas, so we will send you some more pictures later.

The weather man says cold and maybe snow for tomorrow. I'm kind of hoping it does as we have spent only one white Christmas in the last eight I've been back here. I suppose you have plenty of snow out there.

I've been awfully busy at work and then we had our Christmas party for the Mutual Tuesday night, so I feel pretty much all in now. We got Bob a tricycle, a red wagon, and a wind-up train. They cost 95 cents each and from all the toys that I hear he is going to get from others we will have to put some of them away to be used at a future date.

Your package arrived the other day and feels very much like fruitcake. I hope it is, as your fruitcake is better than anything you can buy here. Again a very merry Christmas and let us know what Santa brought.

John.
