Dorothy Griffin to Maude / Washington D.C.

Today the package came and it certainly was welcome. The cake came through beautifully and John was tickled about the jelly, and I was practically speechless over the oysters, and the "duck" was very cute and I know3 will be a help for quite a while. We looked ove everything to see if the dress was tucked in but I'm sure you didn't send it with those things since if one of the glasses had broken it would have ruined the dress. We'll be very happy to see it on the christening day if we can agree on a name. We havn't said much about one yet as we have sort of different ideas regarding names.

John is going over to the ocean next Wednesday through Sunday. Larry and Bee will be there and Ruth and Thel Carlston. So I think he'll have a good time although today is almost cold and it's raining; one of those North East rains Elsie will remember.

I hope Elsie is not working too hard. I don't think all jobs are hard. Mine at present is very agreeable, but I do think a good many are very strenuous. Sometimes it isn't the work in itself, but the awful pressure by an irate or nervous superior. Anyway when whe has the experience well in hand she should be able to get into an organization with more regard for its staff, and meanwhile she is getting excellent training if she can stand it.

John is quite concerned over Donald just now. He has written...
