John Griffin to Mother / Washington D.C.

Dot has had this written about a week now and I know that if I don't put it in an envelope and address it and then mail it you'll never get it.

I see she has told you about the car. It is surely a pretty car. The 1935 Master (DeLuxe) coach with a trunk on the back. I think the official name is "Town Car" I didn't tell you how much we paid for the car. It cost us $519.00. They gave me $50.00 for the Ford and we took all our money out of the bank and paid $300 additional. It kind of hurt our feelings to drive the old Ford out to the company and park it out among a lot of wrecks and then drive off this shiny new one. It surely is a pleasure to drive though, after the old ford. It only had 7,140 miles on it and is in very good condition. I about wore myself out yesterday waxing it. Dot has told you about all the news. We did get the Valentine so our monthly payments are small, only $16.30 a month for a year.

Well, it seems I have car on the brain. Anyway it is a very prety car, but it hasn't as good a motor as the Ford. We think though it will do for a year or two. Tell Gord I'll write him soon. I am awfully busy, and be sure to write yourself soon. Tell Dad I expect an answer to his lettter.

John.
