John Griffin to Mother / Grenoble, France
It is surely funny how the mail moves. Last Saturday I received the letter you wrote on the 22nd of August before you left on your trip, and the Friday before I received the letter you and Grandmother wrote at Fish Lake. Then last Sunday I got the card of Bryce Canyon. It must be that some boats cross the ocean more quickly than others.
So far we have had good weather during September. The nights cool off and the days are not so hot as before. I hope that you are somewhere where the temperature is reasonable. No doubt the kids are all in school by now. What grade are Donny and Elsie in, an what is Gord doing this year? When does Weber start? The papers don't say much abut Weber this year.
I was quite surprised to hear that Perce and Helen wern't married. I think that is rather odd for them to be down there alone and not married. I thought that Aunt Effie was going to Washington D.C. or some place back there. I wrote to her several months ago but have never received an answer yet.
I am glad that you went to hear elder Cortez. He was a very good missionary while over here. You don't want to take everything he tells you about me, because don't you see he has to tell all the mothers of all the missionaries those things.
