President Rossiter to Elders Griffin and Middleton

On the eve of my departure for home I wish to extend for the last time my appreciation to you for the very loyal support which you have given me. It has been through your efforts that the work has been made light for me. I have enjoyed your associations very much. I have learned many beautiful lessons from you and I hope to use them in my future life.

Elder P. Rulon Christensen has been chosen to succeed me. He is a man of high moral standards, loyal to his convictions and humble in his endeavors to serve the Lord. He needs your support and cooperation in this important calling. I am sure that you will rally around him, and make it easy for him to execute his duties.

Peace be with you. I shall be interested in you always, and shall be looking with pleasure to the time when we can meet again in Zion. This morning we were made very happy when Elder Moody presented us with the most beautiful set in behalf of all the missionaries of the French Mission. May we then thank both of you as a part of this united body for the sentiments which you have express, and which are so much appreciated. It will be a constant reminder of you always, as it will occupy a prominent place in our home and in our hearts.
