Missionary Journal of John Griffin

Sep 18 Arrived in Antwerp this morning at 8. Took train to Brussels. Arrived at 10 o'clock. Got my first taste of missionary work.

Sep 20 Spent last night and part of today riding on a hard board seat from Brussels. Arrived in Geneva at 12:10. Know nothing yet.

Sep 21 Spent today in Geneva. Went down town shopping. Had a French lesson tonight. Am really enjoying myself.

Sep 22 Just a month ago today I came to the mission home. Went to church and sang for the first time. Am enjoying myself.

Sep 23 Spent another day in Geneva. Went to a show. The first in a foreign language. I am sure missing home.

Sep 24 Another day in Geneva. I wish we would go to our field. Got four letters from home.

Sep 25 Went to sunday school and church tonight here in Geneva. Spoke in church tonight. I like Geneva very much.

Sep 26 Went tracting today in Geneva with frere Silver. Don't like it very well. Got two more letters today - D. and M.

Sep 27 Went tracting with frere Cope here in Geneva today. He is very good. It seems awful hard to me yet.

Sep 28 My last day in Geneva for awhile. Leave tomorrow at 10:45 for Montpellier, my field of labor.

Sep 29 Traveled all day today. Got in Montpellier tonight about 11. Had hard time getting here.

Sep 30 Went tracting this morning and went to Marseille this afternoon-for a conference. Sure like the fellows. Went to show tonight.



Oct 1 Attended the priesthood meeting this morning. Sure a wonderful spirit there. Went to visit Chateau d'If - rode on the Mediterranean.

Oct 2 A month ago today I left home. Seems a year. Came back to Montpellier this morning. Held a wonderful meeting tonight.

Oct 3 Saw about the hall, got my picture taken and did an hour and a half of tracting. Am enjoying my work very much.
